Bhavprakash Herbal Garden

  • Bhavprakash Udhyan is well maintained herbal garden spread over 5974 sq. m of land at SMIAS Campus. Here plants are distributed in separate plots with proper labelling which makes the identification easy to students and general public.
  • Study of medicinal plants with their identification is the main aim to develop this garden. It is quite helpful to students, researchers and persons interested in Ayurveda.
  • Patients are also getting benefits of easily available herbal plants like Nirgundi, Kumari, Eranda, Dhatura and many other drugs to cure their diseases.
  • Our approach is to cultivate awareness in students as well as in general public to identify, use and also conserve the plants in their day to day life.
  • There is a good irrigation facility, proper manpower and fencing facility in the campus garden.
  • Bamboo hut is centre of attraction and very nice, clean and flourish. Lotus pound at the entrance also increases the beauty of the garden.

  • Rare species like Shyonak, Patala,all three species of Jivanti , all three species of Saireyak, all three species of Chitrak, two species of Nirgundi, Agar, Rudraksha, Karpura, Nagkeshara, Yashtimadhu, Vacha, Vidanga, Kupilu, all plants of Dashmoola - Bilva, Agnimantha (Bruhat & Laghu), Shyonak, Patala, Gambhari, Shalaparni, Prushniparni, Bruhati, Kantakari and Gokshura (Bruhat & Laghu) are available in garden.
  • We had developed Medicinal Plant Distribution Unit ( Aushadhi Ropa Vitrana Kendra) for plantation program in many projects.
  • Plants are properly named with Sanskrit name, Gujarati name and Scientific name.
  • Garden is frequently visited by students of our institute and other institutes, trainees and researchers in Ayurveda.
  • Efforts are still going on to increase its biodiversity and be helpful to mankind by using ancient knowledge with proper use of new technology. 
  • Going to develop collection of all Indian State trees and State flowers in one campus.
